Ian Somerhalder Talks About His Romantic Side

Vampire Diaries is off the air until September, and that means it is time for some rest and relaxation for Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon Salvatore on the hit series. The actor recently revealed his romantic side in an interview, and those that want a sneak peek into the man and his relationship with girlfriend Nina Dobrev, who co-stars with him on the series, should take note of what Somerhalder considers romance.

According to Sugarscape, Ian Somerhalder said the following about romance and his own idea of it: “I flew to Paris once just to have lunch with a girl and it was romantic and wonderful but then it ended like that [clicks his fingers]. It was romantic but it didn’t go anywhere! I think real romance is something as simple as breakfast in bed. You can make even the smallest thing like that romantic it is just a matter of how you do it.”

Sounds like he has the right idea. He was able to win over Nina Dobrev after all. The couple has been busy as of late. They were recently seen jetting into LAX for a photo shoot for season three of the season, and production on Vampire Diaries is set to begin this month. Ian said the following on his Twitter last night: “Wheels down-LALA.Much to do VD starting tomorrow!Night you awesome people!”

Vampire Diaries is promising a lot of twists and trusts in season three including the return of Anna and Vicki to haunt Jeremy. Right now, it looks like Ian is enjoying his downtime from production as best as he can.

Ian Somerhalder Saves The Dogs!

Ian Somerhalder to the rescue!

We reported not long ago how much we love Ian Somerhalder because not only does he play the gorgeous Damon in the Vampire Diaries he is also trying to change the world for the better through the Ian Somerhalder foundation.

His organisation tackles issues damaging the planet and its creatures. Yesterday Ian tweeted a link to a report detailing his foundation’s latest achievement! He wrote, “One last thing… you really make this life extraordinary. Look at what “WE” did…http://t.co/qAmDazv CONGRATS and thank you BC!”

So from now on we’re going to call him Ian Superman Somerhalder, okay?

The report outlined how Ian Somerhalder had been appalled after finding out that a British Columbian tourism company shot to death 100 sled dogs over two days to thin out the pack. It makes us so sad to type that.

In response Ian said, “These animals were brutally murdered and the individuals responsible should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Period.”

He was so outraged that the Ian Somerhalder foundation and Change.org worked together to petition for harsher penalites for cruelty to animals in British Columbia. They collected over 60,000 signatures in a great swell of support.

Now the Ian Somerhalder foundation has announced the changes they wanted to be made to the British Columbia’s Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act have become law.

Achievement!

Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder Take Romance Public

Love bites — unless you’re The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder, that is.

After keeping their relationship under wraps for a year, the costars put rumors to rest when they arrived hand-in-hand at the MuchMusic Video Awards Sunday night.

“Who am I most excited to see tonight?” Somerhalder, 32, smirked. “Nina Dobrev!”

His girlfriend, who turned heads in a strapless Georges Chakra Couture dress, was less forthcoming. “I’m excited to see Selena Gomez because she’s hosting and I’m really happy for her,” Dobrev, 22, said.

Will their relationship stand the test of time? “They are the real deal,” a pal of the couple recently told Us Weekly.
