Ian Somerhalder to the rescue!
We reported not long ago how much we love Ian Somerhalder because not only does he play the gorgeous Damon in the Vampire Diaries he is also trying to change the world for the better through the Ian Somerhalder foundation.
His organisation tackles issues damaging the planet and its creatures. Yesterday Ian tweeted a link to a report detailing his foundation’s latest achievement! He wrote, “One last thing… you really make this life extraordinary. Look at what “WE” did…http://t.co/qAmDazv CONGRATS and thank you BC!”
So from now on we’re going to call him Ian Superman Somerhalder, okay?
The report outlined how Ian Somerhalder had been appalled after finding out that a British Columbian tourism company shot to death 100 sled dogs over two days to thin out the pack. It makes us so sad to type that.
In response Ian said, “These animals were brutally murdered and the individuals responsible should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Period.”
He was so outraged that the Ian Somerhalder foundation and Change.org worked together to petition for harsher penalites for cruelty to animals in British Columbia. They collected over 60,000 signatures in a great swell of support.
Now the Ian Somerhalder foundation has announced the changes they wanted to be made to the British Columbia’s Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act have become law.
Achievement!
